I recently shared my new Swedish dishcloths and much to my surprise, I’m now a big fan! Why didn’t anyone tell me how wonderful these are? I’ve discovered so many benefits to cleaning with Swedish dishcloths. They are a perfect alternative to disposable paper towels, but I am also catching on to how they enhance and simplify life in more ways than I would have expected!
I’m always on a mission to simplify my life and home as much as possible, so I thought I would share my findings with you.
Here are 6 Benefits of Cleaning with Swedish dishcloths (and ways they will simplify your life and home!).
Save time and energy doing laundry
My husband and I already had been reducing our paper towel usage by using regular dish cloths for awhile now. We still have paper towels for extra messy situations (i.e. dogs!), but have used old dish towels for most of our kitchen cleaning. Our regular dish towels worked just fine, but at the same time, they increased our laundry loads.
Now that we have these Swedish dishcloths on hand for those quick spills or cleanups, we save time and energy doing laundry!
Make cleaning safer and more enjoyable
Not only are these Swedish dishcloths pretty (which I think is enjoyable in itself!), but they work so well. They make cleaning safer, easier and more pleasant. I have tried microfiber cloths and just didn’t enjoy using them at all, so I am very happy to have found something I like better for so many reasons.
Unlike traditional dishcloths or sponges that trap germs, start to smell or quickly wear out, Swedish dishcloths are made from a special blend of natural fibers that resist odor-causing bacteria. We rarely would ever choose a sponge to clean because they harbor so much bacteria!
Cleaning should not be a health risk or add harmful chemicals or bacteria to the kitchen.
You can use them just with water, with vinegar, or dish detergent. I use them with all of my toxin-free soaps and cleaners!
Swedish dishcloths are very absorbent and retain moisture well (absorbing up to 20x their weight!), so you can scrub and wipe surfaces efficiently without constantly rewetting the cloth. They are so soft and yet durable and sturdy enough to tackle even the toughest cleaning without falling apart. Plus they are small enough to use easily for just about any tasks.
Whether you need to wipe down kitchen counters cabinets and hardware, scrub stubborn stains off dishes, or mop up spills, I find them enjoyable to use!
Versatile for use all around the house
Swedish dishcloths are so versatile, they are not just for the kitchen! This makes them even more appealing to me. In fact I bought another two sets so we can use them around other areas of our home. They will be ideal for bathroom surfaces and fixtures, handy to dust and clean furniture, or even to polish mirrors and glass surfaces! Some people told me they use them for bathing and wiping off kids hands and faces, so they really are versatile in so many unexpected ways! I’m excited to explore more ways to use them around our home.
Easy to maintain
Swedish dishcloths are surprisingly easy to maintain. That is a huge plus! They are reusable up to 50 washes and should last a long time (up to a year!). After each use, I simply rinse the dishcloth with water and lay it over the edge of the sink or dish rack. You can also toss them in the washing machine or even the dishwasher to remove any dirt and bacteria.
Save space in cabinets
By using these versatile dishcloths, we need to keep fewer dish towels and cleaning rags. Swedish dishcloths are dry and stiff when not in use so you can easily keep a few on hand in a basket, drawer or under the sink. They function like a cross between a sponge and a paper towel, yet take up such minimal space in comparison to a stack of towels or paper towel rolls! Swedish dishcloths are perfect for smaller kitchens, too.
Save money
These Swedish dishtowels are eco-friendly and save money on buying reusable paper towels each month as well as laundry loads. Each cloth can replace 17 rolls of paper towels (85 rolls per pack!), so the cost savings is a significant benefit.
I will report back on any new discoveries and my thoughts once we’ve used ours for a number of months, but so far I give these a big thumbs up!
