What You Will Need to Make the Best Berry Smoothie
To make this protein berry breakfast smoothie you will need a few simple ingredients. We always try to aim for organic and clean ingredients.

- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1/2 cup fresh blackberries
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- 1 cup almond milk
- optional – 1 serving vanilla protein powder
Berry Protein Smoothie Recipe Notes
You may use a frozen banana if you slice and freeze it in advance, otherwise, a ripe banana is perfect.
I like the freshness that fresh blueberries add to this mixed berry smoothie recipe, but if you opt for frozen blueberries I would suggest using wild blueberries, as wild berries tend to be bursting with antioxidants.
Frozen mixed berries can be found in the frozen food sections of grocery stores. Some are marketed as made for mixed berry smoothies, but you don’t need to get fancy, this is the kind I like to go with here: frozen mixed berries.
For the protein powder, I often try different brands to see which I like and don’t like. This recipe is made with a vegan protein powder that has minimal ingredients. It’s organic and clean and adds a nice subtle vanilla flavor to this healthy berry smoothie recipe. You can find it online here: vanilla protein powder.
When it comes to almond milk, I prefer plain unsweetened almond milk, but you can use unsweetened vanilla almond milk or even any non-dairy milk of your choice. Cashew milk is an easy swap for almond milk. It is another dairy-free milk option that I use often. This is my favorite almond milk.
You will also need a high speed blender. I have this Vitamix blender, and I love it. It’s available online here: Vitamix Blender. There are also many different blenders available online for different price ranges, and abilities. You can find those here: Blenders.
How to Make a Berry Smoothie with Protein
First, add your milk to the blender.
Then add the fresh and frozen fruits to the blender. Using frozen fruits means we don’t need to add ice.
Next, add the protein powder to the blender.
Blend for approximately 30 seconds or until smooth.
Pour into a tall glass and enjoy.
