What You Need to Make Easy Air Fryer Potatoes
To make these crispy potatoes you only need a few simple ingredients.
- 2 lbs russet potatoes
- 1-2 Tbsp olive or avocado oil
- 1 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- black pepper to taste
- optional – pinch of cayenne pepper
- optional – fresh parsley for garnish
If 2 pounds of potatoes feels like a lot, it isn’t. The potatoes tend to shrink in the cooking process. The number of potatoes will vary depending on the size of the potato. Two pounds is approximately equal to 4 large russets or 6 small russets.
This recipe calls for russet potatoes, but you are welcome to substitute with red potatoes, baby potatoes, or other types of potatoes.

How to Make Air Fryer Roasted Potatoes
First, preheat the air fryer at 390 degrees F while you prepare the potatoes.
Make sure to clean and dry the potatoes. You can simply dry them with paper towels to remove the excess moisture.
Next, with skin on, cut the potatoes into 1/2″ cubes and transfer them to a large bowl.
Then add the oil to the bowl.
Add the spice blend to the potatoes. If you like a subtle heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper as well.
Toss the potatoes thoroughly to coat.
How Long to Cook Potatoes in Air Fryer
Place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket.
Select the air crisp function, set the cook time for 40 minutes, close the lid, and press start.
Ideally, the potatoes should be placed in the air fryer basket in a single layer. This is not always possible and depends a lot on the size of your air fryer.
Make sure to continuously shake the basket, or toss the potatoes throughout the cooking process. If using tongs, make sure to use silicone tongs to avoid scratching the air fryer basket.
Toss the potatoes a minimum of once every 10 minutes. The best potatoes will need to most exposure to the hot air to prevent uneven cooking. Try to toss them closer to every 5 minutes when possible.
When the 40 minutes is up your flavorful potatoes will have golden brown crispy outsides with soft fluffy insides.
