When making poached eggs in a poacher pan you will need the pan, fresh eggs, water, and a little spray oil.
Poached Egg Pan Instructions
First, fill the bottom pan of your poacher with about half an inch of water. Bring this water to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
Next, to prevent your eggs from sticking to the poaching cups, lightly coat them with olive oil or avocado oil.
Then carefully crack one egg into each cup.
Once the water starts to simmer, carefully place the poaching tray into the pan. Reduce the heat to maintain a gentle simmer and cover the pan with a lid.
Set a timer for your desired level of doneness. How long to cook poached eggs in a poacher pan will vary on your preferred level of doneness. Typically, poached eggs take between 3.5 and 6 minutes to cook. I find that 5 minutes is perfect for me, but you may prefer yours cooked differently, and it may take a few tries until you find that egg poacher cooking time sweet spot.
When the timer goes off, remove the pan from the heat and carefully lift the lid.
Then use a small spatula, and gently remove each perfectly poached egg from its cup. A silicone spatula is ideal. It easily slides under the egg, is gentle enough to prevent scratching the cups, and maintains whole egg yolks.
Serve immediately. If you used too much oil in the cups you may want to dab the cooked eggs on paper towels before serving to remove excess moisture.
How to Serve Poached Eggs
Serve them on top of crispy toast, in salads, alongside grilled vegetables, or as the star of a hearty breakfast bowl. Don’t forget a sprinkle of salt, pepper, and your favorite herbs for an extra burst of flavor.
