Today’s Home has named Alyssa Moore to be its new President, making her the first executive outside of the founding family to lead the iconic brand known for offering  high-quality furnishings and design.

The multi-generational furniture and custom interior retailer founded in 1953 by Sigmund  and Audrey Lenchner has most recently been led by their son since 1987 Jeffrey Lenchner, who will retain the position of Chief Executive Officer.

A Cranberry native, Moore brings ten years of cross-functional leadership to the role.  Throughout her tenure at Today’s Home, most recently as Chief Operating Officer, she has driven profitable growth and boosted market leadership with an approach that embraces creativity, innovation and inclusive collaboration with the management team of Rachel Lenchner (Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer), Paula Fitzgerald (Finance Director), Kaitlin Holloway (Director of TH Trade Companies), Morgan Wilson (General Manager), and Ed Freiberger (Warehouse Manager).

“It is an honor for me to build upon the legacy the Lenchner family has created and to help usher this organization closer to its second century,” said Moore.  “I am deeply inspired by the Today’s Home family of employees and all they do to deliver the very best experience and furnishings for our household and commercial customers throughout western Pennsylvania.

“I am looking forward to building upon our continued commitment to innovation in home and office design solutions.”

As COO, Moore oversaw the company transformation by introducing a reinvented shopping experience where customers now find new showrooms with beautifully designed room settings featuring world-famous brands like Bernhardt, Hancock & Moore, Palliser, Sherrill, Rowe, Mavin, American Leather, Century, Natuzzi, and Canadel.  The effort, including the new modern exterior of the 60,000 square-foot Greentree store, assisted by New York retail innovator Martin Roberts Design, a leading influencer in guiding the home industry’s visual merchandising, branding and rebranding concepts.

“The history of Today’s Home is a special one,” said Jeff Lenchner. “The foundation and focus with which my family has built the company has led to pioneering innovation in home and office design.  We are committed to creating the best furnishings and accessories solutions in the Pittsburgh area and making quality design accessible to more people.

“With Alyssa taking the leadership role in the company, this will be the first time in our history that we will be led by an individual not part of the Lenchner family.  She has earned this appointment through her dedication to the company over the last ten years and has consistently demonstrated insight in all phases of our business.”

Company and Legacy grows

Along with its physical enhancements, Today’s Home has evolved and re-strategized to keep up with trends in technology including how it communicates with customers and members of its industry.

“We stay current, embrace new talent and constantly innovate,” said Rachel Lenchner.  “Over the past three years, we have been perfecting the Today’s Home brand vision as a leader in home design and décor leader.  We respond to fast-changing consumer needs and expectations, seeing more engagement from young consumers, and finding different ways to connect.

“From a merchandising perspective, we offer superior quality, style and the best brands in the industry.  Quality is always top of mind whether it’s our manufacturers, customer service, spsace planning, and design services.”
Lenchner, in her marketing and merchandising leadership role and as a third generation family member, is ready for the challenge.

“The company has always been a big part of my life,” she said.  “It has been an honor to join my family in the business and continue the legacy and learn from the talent that surrounds me.

“My parents were ready to pay it forward, just like my grandparents did, and entrust the company in the hands of a new president and a great new management team.”

Jeff Lenchner couldn’t agree more. “What’s fun for us is not looking at the past but looking forward,” he said.  “We are and have remained passionate about our business and love the fashion side associated with furniture and décor.  We’re proud to have our family name associated with Today’s Home, and we are adamant about bringing quality home furnishings and industry services to Pittsburgh and the surrounding area for years to come.

“Our survival and success has always been about progressive change so we can enhance our offerings, make our communities better, and create an exceptional environment for the next 70 years for our customers and employees.  This is our mission statement, keeping our founders values in mind.”
