Applying solid-wood strips to plywood edges is a tedious part of cabinetmaking. These spring clamps make that task a lot easier. Their sticky rubber jaws grab plywood securely. Between the jaws is a thick rubber band that stretches over the edging and applies the pressure. And the bands offer enough room to add slender cauls—to help spread out that pressure—so you don’t have to use as many clamps overall. (I recommend starting with five or six.) These innovative clamps worked great in my tests, refusing to slip or shift while the glue dried. Beyond edge-banding, you’ll find lots of other uses for these big, strong spring clamps.
