Air fryers aren’t technically fryers at all. Instead, they’re more like a mini convection oven.  Inside, a heating element gets super hot, and a fan rapidly circulates that hot air around your food.  This intense blast of heat cooks the food quickly and evenly, creating a crispy outside and juicy inside. Air-fried jalapeno poppers offer a healthier alternative to deep-fried versions, achieving crispy perfection with hot circulating air.

You will also need toothpicks to secure the bacon around the poppers.

Try to opt for organic jalapenos and quality cuts of bacon. You can use either thin-cut bacon or thick-cut bacon. I order bacon online from small regenerative farms. You can get quality meats online and shipped to your home here: Crowd Cow.

This recipe is flexible when it comes to cream cheese. Feel free to use your favorite variety or a dairy-free alternative like I have here: cream cheese.

How to Make Ninja Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers

First, preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F for 5 minutes while you prepare the bacon-wrapped jalapenos.

Halve the jalapenos lengthwise with a sharp knife, then carefully remove the seeds and membranes.

Do this for all of the jalapenos.

Then, fill each of the jalapeno halves with about 1 Tbsp of cream cheese, and wrap the stuffed jalapenos with bacon. You can use a half slice of bacon per jalapeno or a full slice. This is up to you. I did a mix of both. This is why you will need to secure the bacon with a toothpick.

The bacon will shrink while cooking and if not secured it will not stay in place. Make sure to remove the toothpick before eating to avoid choking. As an alternative, use enough bacon to comfortably wrap around the jalapeno and secure it by tucking it under itself.

Next, place the Ninja air fryer jalapeno poppers into the air fryer on the wire rack, or in the air fryer basket. Arrange them in a single layer. If you have a smaller air fryer, consider cooking the jalapeno poppers in batches. This will allow for better air circulation and ensure they all crisp up evenly.

Close the crisp lid, select the air crisp function of the Ninja Foodi, leave the temp at 390 degrees F, set the cooking time for 12-13 minutes, and select start.

Cook until the bacon is fully cooked and all fat is rendered.

As the poppers cook the bacon grease will fall to the bottom of the Foodi pot leaving you with nothing but the great flavor of a delicious low carb snack.

Once cooked, use tongs to carefully lift the jalapeno poppers from the hot air fryer basket. Serve and enjoy.
